Vjeko Bašić, chef and owner of Tavern Boba, due to his culinary philosophy was recognized as Chef of the year 2018 by Gault Millau. Emotions that enter his dishes allow his guests to recognize and enjoy every bite.
Owner and chef of Tavern Boba, Vjeko Bašić has transformed the family tavern into a top gastronomic destination over the last few years, while maintaining the tradition of the cuisine of the island of Murter and Kornati.
In the kitchen of the tavern Boba, named after the Bašić family name, Vjeko combines fresh, local foods and the richness of seafood with modern culinary techniques and refined presentation of dishes. In recent years he has demonstrated the ability to introduce new, contemporary approaches to food preparation and presentation with great respect for tradition. Emotions that enter the dishes allow its guests to recognize and enjoy every bite. The Tavern Boba is, of course, one of those small restaurants on the coast that runs all year round. In Croatia, and especially on a destination that is out of season almost isolated due to the distance from the main roads, this is a real challenge. Vjeko accepted this, though he admitted it was not always easy. Chef Vjeko Bašić also has "his" fishermen and "his" suppliers of organic products. One of his best friends is Chef Ante Božikov, owner of Opat on Kornati restaurant. with whom he often cooks together to present the kitchen of their region.
