Julia Jaksic is owner and chef of Cafe Roze and renowned by her former positions as the Executive Chef at Employees Only New York, Singapore, and Miami. She was also the Consulting Chef at Jack's Wife Freda, with two locations in New York City.
Julia directs the menu’s balance of classic American and European-inspired fare, changing dishes seasonally to incorporate the freshest, most high-quality ingredients.
She firmly believes that food should be a simple pleasure, one best enjoyed without pretence. For her, nothing beats an expertly prepared meal and cocktails shared with friends.Julia’s foundation in cooking came from her family, particularly her Croatian grandmother who spent most of her life in a small village where her family lived off the land. Julia’s father, a butcher who worked in New York’s Meatpacking District in the 1970s, taught her how to make sausage and tie whole pigs to spits. Early on, she developed respect for fresh, simple ingredients and slow food cooking, philosophies that now define her style.
