David Skoko is the fourth generation of a family of fishermen who live off and by the Adriatic sea. Since he was little, he has had a special bond with the sea and its richness.
His career as a chef began by preparing fresh fish exclusively from his family’s catch, focusing on those that were often neglected in the gastronomic offer of other local restaurants. His impressive techniques of preparing fish, crabs and other seafood show that he always respects the ingredient in the first place and treats it in a simple, yet extremely creative way.
He thrilled Anthony Bourdain in “No reservations - Croatian Coast” and appeared in numerous other international and Croatian TV culinary shows. He writes regularly for StoryGourmet magazine and he lectures on numerous gourmet projects. His tavern Batelina, located in Banjole near Pula, was awarded the best restaurant in Croatia for 2014 by Dobri restorani (Guide for the best restaurants in Croatia).
