A self-taught cook, Ana Roš, helms the kitchen of Hiša Franko restaurant in Kobarid, Slovenia. In 2016, Ana was featured in the Netflix documentary Chef's Table and in early 2017, she was named World's Best Female Chef by The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy.
Hiša Franko is a fine dining place; internationally recognized as one of the world’s most forward-thinking restaurants. Ana - together with her husband, the Maître d’ and Sommelier Valter Kramar - is seen to be at the forefront of the new Slovenian cuisine.
The food at Hiša Franko is everything but – boring. The members of the Hiša Franko community are: young foragers, cheese makers at 2000 m altitude, winemakers and river and sea fishermen. They produce things locally and organically, as nature surrounding Hiša Franko is very much unspoiled, pure and beautiful.
